Portuguese Man of War

While surfing Goat Island Monday night Heath was attacked!

. . . by Portuguese Man-of-War, also known as Blue Bubbles. He kept surfing of course. Whenever he'd feel the tell-tale "long hair" slip across him and sting he'd reach across, pull it off and keep surfing. Many of the tentacles wrapped clear around his legs and arms and neck and we can see this by following the welts around his limbs.

It hurts, of course, but not as bad as the first time.  We are told that over time your body gets used to the toxin and no longer reacts. For now Heath is trying to use his Dad's "mind over matter" techniques as well as Benadryl, Ibuprofen, Lidocaine spray and Hydrocortisone cream. Still hurts.

He's feeling super proud of his battle scars.
